An all time favourite, that will cheer up even the grumpiest of passers by!  Full yellow blooms. This is the best trumpet daffodil, for cool to temperate climates, and flowers early in the season.

Loved for generations, did you know that 'King Alfred' is THE most popular Daffodil in the world? and for good reason. Hardy and adaptable to a variety of conditions. The golden flowers are large and long lasting.

Give them plenty of sun and well drained soil and 'she'll be right'!  We chose the best varieties for our Australian conditions so you are guaranteed success.

Remember to plant Daffodil bulbs three times as deep as the bulb is high, with the pointy end up. The depth will protect them from heat and soil erosion, as well as providing strength for the stem. Space your Daffodils about 10-20cm apart, more if you are leaving the bulbs in to naturalise, as they will multiply over time. Imagine that.. they keep having babies!

Once the flowering has finished, you can remove the flower stem, but its super important to allow the foliage to remain until it has yellowed, if you want them to flower next year. You see, the Daffodil foliage gathers energy and nutrients at this time for next year’s blooms.

Keep the plants relatively moist during this time, and add a little general purpose fertiliser. Daffodils like Potash and slow release fertiliser brands, which are low in nitrogen (this means more flowers and less foliage) but they are not heavy feeders.

Don't skimp on numbers with this one, as it will look very sparse. This is why we are selling them in bulk, at such great prices, so that you will have an amazing display come Spring! So go for broke!

Growing Conditions Detailed

Botanical grouping: Narcissus
Family: Amaryllidaceae
Plant/bulb typeTrue bulbs
Planting timeLate Summer to Autumn
Height: 30-45cm tall.
Depth & spacing:12-15cm apart. 15cm deep

Aspect
Full-sun to half-shade.

Soil
Well drained. Generally not fussy.

Watering
Start watering when growth appears and keep soil slightly moist until foliage dies off after flowering. It is ideal to keep bulbs relatively dry whilst dormant.

Fertilising
Top dress with a complete fertiliser each Autumn. Eg: Blood & Bone. For better performance, top dress annually again after flowering.

Flowering time
From late Winter until mid Spring (depending on the variety).

After flowering care
The bulbs can either be dug and stored or left to naturalise in the ground. The bulbs will need lifting and dividing (because they multiply and overcrowd themselves) every 3-5 years. Planting slightly deeper and further apart will delay the need to lift.

Climates
Subtropical to cool.
