Snowflakes are a brilliant bulb because they will happily flower under the canopy of a big deciduous tree, where nothing else will grow. Brian has them under a Large Chinese Elm and they put on a stunning display in Winter.
This particular variety is bigger and better than the old Leucojum, which are otherwise known as Snowflake Daffodils. They have large penulous flowers up to 2.5cm across.
This is one of the first of the Spring bulbs to start flowering and they look stunning naturalised under trees.
They like plenty of sun, but we have had great success with them growing in shade so Id say to give both a go at your place.
Very early to early spring.
Cool to Mediterranean
Full Sun to Semi Shade
I bought Snow Flake bulbs and Blue Bell bulbs. The snow flakes were very healthy looking but the blue bells were very dry and looked so old. I plant both batches with my fantastic plant drill the day they arrive. I thought I would wait to see how many came up and see if they looked healthy before I contacted you. So let us both keep our fingers crossed.
