Golden Trumpet Daffodil - King Alfred

8

Please Note: Due to pre-existing Quarantine laws we cannot send any bulbs to Western Australia and Tasmania. You may need to find bulb suppliers in your areas. Sorry we can't help you.

The strongest and best known of all Daffodils this variety performs exceptionally well. They can be planted in pot with other bulbs or in clumps in garden beds. You could even be very adventurous and plant them across your lawn so they give a naturalised field of flowers that just gets better and better every year.

Children love seeing the flowers pop out of the ground and they are perfect for bringing into your home to display in a vase.
Daffodils need a full sun position, but can tolerate some dappled light. Prepare your beds to a depth of 20cm, making sure the soil is light and fluffy. Plant the bulbs with the 'fat' end down at a depth of 6cm. Allow 10cm between each bulb, however a less full result can be achieved if you choose to plant further apart.

If growing your Daffodils in a pot, select a high quality potting mix that is free draining. Some gravel in the base of the pot will assist with any drainage issues. Ensure the bulb is well fed and watered right up until dormancy.

Daffodils DO NOT require refrigeration, and are happy to naturalise in the ground for many years. Feed your bulbs as they come into bloom, and make sure you leave the foliage to fully die down - this feeds and grows NEXT years flower.

Happy Gardening!

Well drained. Generally not fussy.

Watering
Start watering when you see it sprouting above the ground. Keep the soil moist right until the foliage has finished and shrivelled down to ground level.

Fertilising
Bulbs dont need food when they dormant (ie no shoots above ground as they are sleeping then) The important time to fertilise is when they start to sprout above ground. The best results can be attained from using a complete liquid fertiliser and water them with it every 2 weeks until they have finished flowering and died back down.

From late Winter

After flowering care
Leave them in the ground and they will gradually multiply. After about 3-5 years you could dig them up and separate the bulbs and plant half of them somewhere else.

Subtropical to cool.

Love the PP,

Love the Power Planter. I planted my 50 King Alfred daffodils in no time flat. The bulbs are shooting up through the grass but a bit early to comment on how the look. I did however plant fifty of your Dutch irises some weeks earlier... the hard way,... and they are now flowering beautifully

Powerplanter & Daffodils

Bought 100 King Alfred Daffodils, already had the power planter. Planted them all in one day (6th June) several are already above ground. The Power Planter is now bright shiny steel as I am using it frequently to turn over my raised garden beds, plant bulbs and dig in fertiliser. Best garden tool I have in my collection. Reserve judgement on the daffodils but hope we have 95% flowering.

spectacular service and products

Recently purchased a Power Planter and about 1100 bulbs. All arrived super fast and well packed. We then successfully planted 850 bulbs in one day. It was a big day but without the power planter we definitely would have given up after about 50 bulbs! I can't wait for them to pop up. Thanks so much for great products and spectacular service!!
